There is no Village in Kebbi State under Bandit’s control
Kebbi State Government has said that there is no single village in kebbi state that
is under the control of bandits nor as reportedly pronounced in appointing traditional
rulers in the state and the practice of sharia.
the Deputy Governor of the state Sen. Umar Abubakar-Tafida, has discredited the news report
at a news briefing in his office in the state capital Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
in his words, “there is on single place or village or clan,in the whole area of kebbi state, that
bandits are in control or in charge of sharia court or have the capacity to appoint village heads
of their choice,” he futher said.
That their is no truth in the report, they are all false and the immagination or writers of such bad news.
There is no bandits camp or base any where in Kebbi state. These intruders/bandits operate from the neighboring
states, and also from Niger Republic to Kebbi with the aid of their informants on where to strike and retreat
Abubakar-Tafida has promised that the state government has put up in place incisive and very effective means to
put and end to this act of banditry.
A delegation sent by the state government under the leadership of the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Atiku Bagudu to meet with the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa
had a progressive discussion with the millitary high command, which was centred on ways to wipe out insugency and banditry in
kebbi state, North and Northwest in general.
The deputy governor Abubakar-Tafida said that in the mean time N92.5 million has been dispensed to the
families of victims who lost their lives in the hands of bandit attack on friday 7th november 2024.
The State Governor Nasir Idris, some senators and members of House of Assembly from the state and some ministers,
made donations to aid the affected persons.
