Soap manufacturing hot process is an easy to start and very lucrative business and in this article I shall be giving a detailed process of soap making for our great audience.
In soap production or manufacturing there are two ways in which it is done and they are cold process and hot process.
In this article we shall be looking at the hot process of soap manufacturing because of thbis reasons:
1–it speeds up saponification, 2—hot process soap can be cut and used within 24hours after production unlike the cold process in soap manufacturing, 3— hot process can allow you combine different oils, by just melting the oils in a heat-safe container.
It is a thing of joy for one to discover one’s ability to make useful things from different materials and or from waste materials.
The main thing is the discovery, another is to put into practice what was discovered, and lastly is to arrive at expected result.
Although it may not be straight at first, but practice makes perfect.
‘’I see I forget, I hear I remember, I do I know’’. This is a typical soap making term.
There are different ways of making soap. Here we shall be talking about only the hot method of soap making is considered.
The slight difference in the different methods is in the use of hydrometer gauge.
Apparatus, ingredients and Measurements in soap manufacturing hot process
Hydrometer, soap molds, slicers, Rubber gloves, Apron and boots, Rubber containers, Rubber Spatula, Water, Water proof papers, Towel and Fire wood.
Ingredients
The essential ingredients to be used are Red oil, Caustic soda, Soda ash, Gum raising, Earthen bleach, oil soluble colorant, Essential oil (perfume)
Measurements
Bleached red oil————-10 custard buckets
Caustic Solution————–5 custard buckets
Hydrometer gauge———–1275
Gum raising———————-1kg
Earthen bleach——————-3 milk cups
Oil soluble colorant————–small tomato cup.
When using kernel oil, the hydrometer gauge is and will still be 1275.
Bleach the oil by heating it on fire and adding the bleaching agent when the oil is very hot so as to speed up the bleaching effect of the oil.
Test with clean white paper to be sure it is well bleached.
A well bleached oil eliminates the over addition of ingredient.
Add enough water in the mixture of caustic solution so that the hydrometer might not burst or break from the heat of the caustic soda.
The reading of the gauge must be 1275 exactly. An error in this value will make the mixture either too hot or too cold thereby leading to soap damage.
Method of soap manufacturing hot process
Measure 10 custard buckets of bleached oil and 5 buckets of caustic solution. Mix fast ant thoroughly on fire.
Add the ingredients as stated above with the measurement maintained. Continue heating and stirring until a fine homogenous mixture or paste is obtained.
Heating is terminated when the paste becomes stretchy and transparent when raised on the wooden spatula.
Another indication that the soap has being produced is by drying of a drop fast within seconds, when dropped on a dry surface.
Quickly pour the soap paste into the soap mold. Check the molds to make sure that there is no holes in the soap molds.
Remove the soap from the molds after it has solidified and become cold.
In-conclusion
Be economical in the use of ingredients. Purchase the type of oil earlier mentioned.
This will help minimize expenditure and maximize profit. Remember, that the sole aim of one’s effort is to make profit.
Good luck to us.
